Festival season has fully descended upon us, and like a festival with fifty stages and a five day schedule, one might also find the number of mixes available somewhat overwhelming.

So like an annotated lanyard, let us walk you through the latest collection of our favorite new mixes streaming right now, from blunted hip-hop to Portuguese party music and beyond.

1.

2. DJ Shadow: Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1

You can hear the excitement in Pete Tong's voice as he introduces DJ Shadow as the latest addition to his Essential Mix series for BBC Radio 1, which will make total sense once you've listened to the mix.

Thirteen years after his first Essential Mix, the pioneering producer, DJ, and notorious crate-digger put together another two hours of treats to publicize the release of his latest album and to blow your mind at the same time. Check out the most recent Essential Mix and Shadow's first effort below.

3. Walla P: Lonnie Liston Smith Tribute Mix

A laid-back journey of jazz awaits you on this wonderful mix from Montreal's Walla P, which pays tribute to the cosmic stylings of Lonnie Liston Smith, and in turn, the influence he had on the hip-hop canon.

"I remember the 1st time I heard of Lonnie Liston Smith; it was through the album credits of Jay-Z's "Reasonable Doubt". I've always been more intrigued with production rather than lyrics but still, I didn't really catch on to his work until later on when I saw a video of Ski Beatz where he was explaining how he made "Dead Presidents". That's when I realized I had to dig deeper into LLS' catalogue, especially as a young beat producer at the time. Even since then, Lonnie Liston Smith has captured & mystified my ears with his music. Whether on the solo tip or with his Cosmic Echoes, LLS' compositions are filled with funky rhythms, peaceful messages, celestial rhodes solos and timeless rhythms. He was, and still is a true visionary, and I'll always feel like he was way ahead of his time...For this mix, I selected some of my ultimate cuts, tracks that helped me escape from reality, travel to outer realms & meditate on my past/current/future endeavours."

4. Hood Joplin: Mix for THUMP

Before listening to this mix from Hood Joplin, make sure your knees are bent and back is straight, because it's really, really heavy. The Canadian producer and DJ selected a varied collection of raring, club-ready tunes.

"With this mix I wanted to showcase a selection of tracks and sounds that I'm listening to as of now, rather than stick to a genre, I guess most of my sets are like that as well. The BPM goes from 140-160 which is my favourite range for club tunes. You'll find a blend of everything from tread to footwork."

5. Brenmar: Grey Zone Vol. 1

Describing his sound as "too hip hop for the dance parties and too dance for the hip hop parties," the New York based producer known as Brenmar has blurred the lines and recently presented the inaugural mix for his new Grey Zone series.

There's a brief intro from Brenmar himself, and some bad-ass selects from then on. Boom!

6. MØ: The Infinite Run x Boiler Room Mixtape

If the sun is shining and you're not feeling like shit, how about you slip on a pair of shoes (Nike or otherwise) and stick on this mix curated by Danish singer-songwriter for motivation? Better for you than any performance enhancing drugs, she explains the mix as being "made for those epic runs when you can't stop, won't stop."

7. Buraka Som Sistema: DJ Set at Boiler Room & Ballantine's Stay True, Portugal

Buraka Som Sistema recently played "60 minutes of nothing but music made in Lisbon" to a baying crowd in Lisbon, Portugal, and let's just say it sounds like it went well. Whooping and cheering can be heard throughout the collective's high energy performance, recorded live at a Boiler Room event.

Can anyone translate "fire mix" into Portuguese for me please?

8. Peggy Gou: Phonica Mix Series #26

To celebrate her induction into the Phonica White roster, Berlin-based Peggy Gou recently put together a highly percussive, highly infectious mix of "house party" house for the folks at Phonica.

"I recorded this mix while I was at home in Berlin and decided to make it vinyl only! I’ve been a little lazy lately with playing records so I wanted this mix to to be a showcase of some of my favourite artists’ records. I used a Korg 16 track digital recorder to capture it."

9. Quantic: Worldmix for Néo Géo

Quantic shines bright on a half-hour mix for Néo Géo, following on from the recent release of his album 1000 watts. A worldly selection of soul, funk, reggae, latin music, and more, squeezed in to this short but oh so sweet mix.

10. Mark Barrott: FADER Mix

Overthinking a mix can often be counterproductive, as producer Mark Barrott addressed when forming his Fader mix during an impromptu session.

"Normally mixes take me weeks — loads of thought, detail, reworking, editing, etc., etc., and I just thought.. 'there’s no way I want to do another one like that'; It takes all the joy out of the music, so this was the total opposite. I picked all my favorite new tracks, tracks I didn’t play out last year or at my sunset residency in Ibiza, La Torre. I just did it live straight from the CDJs into a recorder with no editing, just instinct rather than thinking about it, and it was a breath of fresh air!"

11. DOPE90: Joint Flight Mixtape

A transnational collaboration of Russian and German hip-hop producers has resulted in one of the chillest mixes we've heard in a minute. The second Joint Flight mixtape, made available by Russian collective DOPE90 two years after the first came out, is perfect listening for anyone who's big into Premier and DOOM instrumentals and/or smoking large quantities of cannabis.

"The producers who participated in this project are: DOPE90 (KOVSH, Boora, KOSM14, Smuff Tha Quiz), and other talented beatmakers Klaus Layer, Wun Two, Planet Ragtime, Figub Brazlevič , FloFilz ,Fro st, Made in M, Tusken, Flitz&Suppe, Je$u$, MadChe, ДЁТИ3, Vital_Mastyle, and JoDu. Thank u very much for help - Benno (Educut), Peter (BeatPete), and huge respect to the German scene. Much love from Moscow. Germany and Russia 2016"
