Smino’s blkjptr EP showcased his unique aesthetic, but he’s also proving with each new release that his style can’t be so easily figured out. His latest, “Lemon Pon Goose,” is no different, seeing the young artist exploring different textures and flows. Featuring Jean Deaux’s seductively smooth vocals and playful production courtesy of Sango (who was inspired by Beenie Man’s “Dude”), the single is a colorful and brightly tinged offering that shows off Smino’s intensity and gives listeners a taste of the island life. It’s definitely one you’ll be revisiting all summer long.

Earlier this month, Smino shared his very first music video, a striking and eerie set of visuals for the blkjptr title track. The St. Louis native is also gearing up for his first New York headline show on August 2 at Rough Trade. Grab tickets for the event here.

Listen to “Lemon Pon Goose” and revisit his performance at P&P’s SXSW edition of No Ceilings below.
