On the heels of excellent March mixtape Blue Electronica, enigmatic British duo The Code return with “Overload” and “Fear.” The pair of bonus songs expands on Blue Electronica’s deft whirlwind of electronic influences that sweep up bits of hip-hop and R&B in their path.
“Overload” builds slowly, breaking into the combination of sultry vocals and buzzing pulse that made so much of Blue Electronica intriguing; “Fear” feels like a whisper, an exercise in atmosphere. Both sit comfortably on the project’s spellbinding spectrum, setting the stage for the the deluxe re-release of Blue Electronica, which can be pre-ordered here.
