A couple years removed from her fantastic 2014 debut EP Generation Blue, Massachusetts native Niia is back with another stunning piece of music. Opening with a haunting vocally-driven intro, it’s the kind of song that wouldn’t be totally out of place soundtracking a tasteful midcentury horror film (if those exist). Then the track really takes off as an electronic backing instrumental beefs up and the same alluring vibe we fell in love with on “Generation Blue” returns.
Premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio, “Bored to Death” is accompanied by a teaser visual (seen above) for an ambitious 10-minute short film directed by Luke Gilford that’ll be out in early July as she works on her full-length debut.
