Snoop Dogg's Upcoming Album Expected to be Sequel to 'Doggystyle'

Snoop also revamped Doggystyle Records and is currently releasing singles from new artists on his SoundCloud page.

It’s been almost 23 years since Snoop Dogg released his debut album Doggystyle. In the time since then, he’s released twelve more albums and gone through a few transformations—from Snoop Doggy Dogg to Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion, and back to Snoop Dogg again. And it appears he’s ready to go back to where it all began.

During a live Facebook stream earlier this week, Snoop revealed that his forthcoming album The Return of Doggystyle is due out on July 1. There’s no real word yet on whether or not this will be a sequel to his debut album, but the title gives a subtle hint.

Before quickly speaking on his album, Snoop spent time explaining his plan to help rising artists by accepting music submissions. He and his team will select tracks that they think deserve attention to post on his SoundCloud page. If the track is received well, they will later put it on iTunes for sale via Doggystyle Records. He stated he’s aiming to release 100 singles from new artists before August.

As of right now, Snoop has yet to officially release a single of his own from The Return of Doggystyle, but he recently shared two new tracks that may presumably be a preview of what’s to come. Listen below.
