Back in January, California rapper and producer Elujay kicked off the new year with his single “Soul Food”—his collaboration with rising Chicago talent Saba. The warm, almost soothing rhythm was completed with the necessary dose of reality that both rappers embedded within their lyrics. Today, Elujay returns with yet another smooth single titled “Flagrant.”

Elujay’s latest track “Flagrant” is the first single taken from his forthcoming project Jentrify. The track opens up with a trumpet solo over production provided by Ekzakt. The additional instrumentation adds a beautiful touch—mixing classic elements of jazz with a soulful bounce.

Elujay explains his latest single, saying: “This is my expression of the emotions that a woman caused me to feel when I was in a relationship with her and how I coped to get through it.” Fellow Oakland native YMTK joins Elujay on “Flagrant” to contrast the sound of his own vocals. Together they create a compelling collaboration about relationship problems that will instantly force listeners to unconsciously nod their heads.
