Anna Straker is a London based singer, songwriter, and producer who isn’t exactly new to the music industry. In the past she’s provided background vocals to hit singles from some of London’s other bright talents, including Years & Years and Rudimental. But now, Straker is finally ready to step forward from behind the scenes and release her official first single.

For her debut solo effort “Late Night Swimming,” Straker showcases her full range of talents by writing, recording, and producing the track all on her own. The title of the single seems fitting as it sonically dives head first into deep waves of synth-pop. Straker’s vocals are delicate and inviting, but manages to completely take control as the production swirls around to create a hypnotic rhythm. Even with a practically wordless chorus, “Late Night Swimming” is undeniably catchy.

Similar to the thought of an actual late night swim, this single feels strangely alluring and relaxing. It comes right on time for the approaching season. “This song reminds me of a summer evening in London,” says Straker. “I completely remade a track I wrote two years ago. The original track had a 6/8 time signature and I changed it to 4/4, giving it a whole new vibe. I found this cool synth sound on my King Korg, and I based the whole track around that. I love how dreamy it is, it feels free.”
