Listen To Elohim's Self-Titled Debut EP

1.

For the past year Elohim has been one of the more interesting new artists, making one solid electro-pop offering after another. All the while, she's been masking her identity, giving the space necessary for listeners to connect with her music purely for the music.

Now, she's ready to reveal more about herself with the release of her self-titled debut EP. The project spans ten tracks and showcases all the different aspects of her personality including those traits we rarely voice. "It comes and goes. There are heavy peaks and valleys. One second I feel completely fine, I'm laughing, life is great and the next second I'm cold, sweating scared and sick to my stomach," she says of her struggle with anxiety, which she documents greatly on this EP. "I put music in my headphones and drown out the anxiety. In all honesty, I am still working on it."

Though the subject matter of her music may be raw at times, there's a confidence in her songwriting ability that causes her material to standout. As evidenced throughout this project, she knows how to create real pop music that's void of all the usual gimmicks. It's a very natural sound, with verses that feed into infectious hooks in an incredibly satisfying way.

To celebrate this impressive collection, we asked Elohim to continue to talk about something she loves: finding and digesting music. She picked her favorite songs right now for us and no surprise, it's a super solid playlist. Take a peek at the ten songs she has in heavy rotation with the following list, and check out her debut EP below.

2. D.R.A.M ft. Lil Yachty - "Broccoli"

When I first heard and saw 'Cha Cha' a while ago I immediately sent the video to everyone I know. D.R.A.M has a really unique voice and incredible energy. I am heavily inspired by different, interesting voices and sounds.

3. Tunji Ige - "Bring Yo Friends"

I only discovered Tunji Ige recently, but’s he definitely next up. Respek.

4. Young Thug - "Worth It"

I cannot control what gets my emotions going. This song has me feeling some type of way for whatever reason. In the best possible way.

5. Darnell Williams - "South Central"

One of the most kind and real individuals I know. His lyrics have so much depth. I appreciate an artist that talks about subject matter with a strong purpose.

6. PARTYNEXTDOOR ft. Drake - "Come and See Me"

I love this song. On repeat.

7. A.CHAL - "Gazi"

Love his sound, style and aesthetic.

8. 6lack - "Ex Calling"

“3am on I’m on do not disturb”

The great thing about working with inspired people is that they’re always working. My friend and collaborator Danny P is one of them, he mixed this the other night and everyone definitely felt the vibe. This song is smooth and exactly how I’m feeling in the studio at 3am.

9. The Weeknd - "The Morning"

The is my favorite song by The Weeknd. I bought this record in London last year. Kinda late to the game but I feel like digesting music has to be on your own time, when you're ready for it.

10. Skepta - "Nasty"

I really love Skepta's flow and voice...a lot. Makes me feel like a bad ass. I actually adore when someone's accent is prominent in their singing or rapping voice.

11. Casey Veggies ft. Elohim - "All That Gold"

This was my first time really being in the studio with a rap artist. It was a very inspiring session and time. We stayed up all night making this track. The production started with a bass line I played on a keyboard. Everything following came naturally. The process for rappers is really unique. It was nice to feel inspired and influenced by being around hip hop. It was different for me which made it exciting.
