The New Wave is a feature we’ll be presenting every Tuesday. It will highlight one song we’re currently obsessed with, by a new or rising artist.
We say:
24hrs walks the thin line between convention and invention, passing modern R&B melodies through a unique, almost alien filter. Precious little is known about the artist, but “STYLIST” is hook-heavy and too short, clocking in at just under two minutes.
But 24hrs makes the most of it—there are a flurry of pop culture references, quotable lines (“B*tch you need a stylist / I could be your stylist”), and some consistently crispy drums. The songs besides “STYLIST” evoke a similarly mobile, modern feeling. This is music that moves—fast—and is sure to continuing picking up speed.
He says:
“It’s just a lot of sauce… I just do me and work. I don’t focus on too many things outside of my craft.”
