Just before March rolled into April, Tate Kobang shared his tellingly titled ten-track project, Since We’re Here. It’s a proudly announced arrival, and rightfully so, showcasing his wide range of talents atop equally varied production. Soft keys, aggressively contorted bass stabs, and what sounds like a bagpipe sample create a distinct sound-bed.
The Baltimore rapper has increasingly made his presence known in 2016 after our very own Jon Tanners highlighted his talents last December. With his “Bank Rolls” remix now sitting comfortably at 1.2 million plays and a strong single in “Oh My” in the rearview, it’s all about sustaining momentum. Here is a step in the right direction.
Give Since We’re Here a spin, and pay close attention to “Nasty Girls,” “Same Shit” and the simple but sweet “Lie To Me.” Read our 5 On It piece that featured Kobang while you’re at it.
