Last year, Brooklyn-based synth-wizard George Clanton ditched his Mirror Kisses alias in favor of his own namesake. Releasing the fantastic 100% Electronica and launching a label of the same name, Clanton boldly took a step forward, blending his pop tendencies with his weirder internet-bred collages of sound. Cleaning up his act for his debut under his own name, Clanton polished the style he initially birthed back in 2012 to a fine sheen.

With the newfound interest in his music and intense live show, Clanton has seen fit to do further tidying by revisiting his debut Mirror Kisses project, Bad Dreams. Cleaning up the original considerably to coincide with the launch of a special edition limited vinyl release, Clanton has brushed away the dirt from his earliest forays into structured pop music. Benefitting greatly from its remaster, Bad Dreams finally sounds as great as it deserves to.

Complete with four newly unearthed tracks from the same era and a couple of remixes, the double-sided remaster of Bad Dreams is just as strong as Clanton’s newest material. While there’s sense Clanton was still trying to find the limits of his art on some tracks, “She’s Gone” and “Slow Lover” in particular make it evident that he always had the chops to make instantly satisfying pop tracks.
