Fans of New York rap looking for a new Jewish deli to frequent have a new spot: Despot and El-P have announced the opening of a deli called Frankel’s in Brooklyn.
In an Instagram post, Despot wrote, “I’m opening a Jewish deli with some of my friends tomorrow. You may be familiar with some of them. It’s called frankel’s. I haven’t said much about it. Now I am. It’s at 631 Manhattan Ave in greenpoint. The food is jewlicious. Come hang out with me there tomorrow and forever. This is not an April fools joke. I forgot that was today. You’re an April fools joke.”
They’re really not messing around: The restaurant, which was the idea of Holy Ghost!’s Alex Frankel and brother Zach, has hired former Food Network kitchen chef Ashley Berman as the executive chef. El-P is a co-owner as well, and he’s been hilariously pushing the new spot on Twitter.
