It’s been nearly two years since BadBadNotGood released their last album, III. However, the guys haven’t been absent from the music scene. Aside from doing live shows, they’ve been busy working with artists such as Kaytranada, Ghostface Killah, Kali Uchis, Mick Jenkins, and many more.
Today they finally drop hints about their forthcoming album IV. BBNG shared a brand new track titled “Speaking Gently” with a description that simply reads: “IV coming soon.” This new single presumably gives us a preview of what we can expect to hear on the new album.
BBNG works to effortlessly merge contrasting sounds together on “Speaking Gently” that make them each feel made for each other. In just four minutes, the instrumentations takes listeners on a sonic journey—transitioning from a woozy piano and drum-led rhythm to an attention-grabbing sax solo that helps to add another layer of depth to this instrumental track.
