Now that there are so many platforms that allow music lovers to stream their favorite songs, streaming services are finding new ways to connect to consumers on a more personal level. In their latest effort, Pandora is introducing a new feature that will help bring fans closer to the artists that they love.

The AMP—”Artist Marking Platform”—program that helped initially launch Pandora is introducing a new feature on Pandora’s current artist management app that will allow featured artists to record personal voice messages to their fans. The audio messages will be placed right into the regular stream of their listeners. Artists can easily record a short message, and even add links if they’d like, then insert the message into their fans’ streams. This new feature is expected to work as a spontaneous new way for musicians to reach their fans quickly.

However, don’t expect Pandora streams to get cluttered with unwanted voice messages in the near future. These messages will only pop up for fans who have started a radio station by that specific artist—and unlike those annoying ads, users have the option to skip these messages if they’d like.

According to their press release, Pandora plans to launch this new feature starting today. “This powerful tool, combined with the scale and reach of Pandora, gives every talented and hard-working artist a real shot to build a career in music,” says Tim Westergren, Pandora’s founder. “Marketing and promotion for artists will never be the same.”
