If Brockhampton really is a boy band, then Matt Champion is demonstrating how a boy band should act in 2016: solo material doesn’t have to suffer. Following last month’s single “Punks,” Champion is back with another banger.
He linked up with Michael Christmas and Kevin Abstract for the occasion, and “Salud” is a raucous “toast to you fucks,” a celebration of the inebriated state. The menacing production slithers by, perfectly complementing the three rappers’ flows and the relentless, abrasive hook. With each new release, Matt Champion shows a little more finesse, and “Salud” may just be one of his best offerings yet.
