PREMIERE: The Last Artful, Dodgr Breaks Through with "Squadron"

Some songs just make you feel cool—theres something in the performance and delivery that puts you at ease, production that reaches out and pulls you into its world. “Squadron” is one of those songs, thanks to a couple of commanding verses from The Last Artful, Dodgr. The L.A.-born, Portland-based artist has an unmistakable voice—it’s the kind of raspy, sneering delivery that oozes confidence and power, especially on that bouncy, elastic chorus.

Australian producer W.N.T.D. provided the minimal, driving beat, and The Last Artful, Dodgr did the rest. This is her first single since last year’s Fractures EP, and the rapper has a series of 2016 releases planned.

As for the name? “The meaning of my name has evolved in tandem with my creative process,” she explained. “Ultimately, ‘The Last Artful,’ is just a signature—Dodgr is the artist.”
