Daye Jack continues to show his versatility. The young Atlanta rapper has proven adept at extending his sound far outside the normal trappings of hip-hop and his latest offering “Finish Line” pushes things even further. Heavily influenced by funk, the uptempo song is built around the grooves of a crunchy synthesizer and features some of the most impressive vocals we’ve heard on a Daye Jack track yet.
On the heels of his politically-charged single with Killer Mike on “Hands Up,” the cheerful song also shows his range in subject matter, ensuring no one’s tempted to pigeon-hole him as a “conscious rapper” any time soon. We can’t wait to hear what he has up his sleeve next.
