Just a few days ago, Hudson Mohawke tweeted that he was “literally about to release a zip of Kanye and Drake songs” due to frustration with rappers not paying him for his work. Fortunately, the problem was quickly resolved and he’s back to doing what he does best: make crazy beats for rappers to go bananas over.
On Bodega Bamz’ “Ghost,” the beat kicks off with a little synth loop that sounds like it came from an old video game as Mohawke blends his electronic and hip-hop influences. Then vocals from Youth Is Dead come in as an EDM-like build breaks with classic thunderous HudMo drums. Of course, not to be lost in the chaos is a fiery verse from Bodega Bamz who adds a swaggering flavor to the whole thing. It’s mean. Play this the next time something bad happens.
