After making its debut at last year’s New York Film Festival, it’s been announced that the Don Cheadle-starring Miles Davis biopic, Miles Ahead, will be in theaters on April 1. The film is also Cheadle’s directorial debut, and, in anticipation of its release, it now has a full trailer thanks to Entertainment Weekly.
Miles Ahead was also the title of Davis’ 1957 album, though the film has little to do with the making of that album as it’s set in the ’70s and following Davis’ life during that time, with fictional elements added. Miles Ahead also stars Ewan McGregor as Dave Brill, a Rolling Stone journalist who joins Cheadle/Davis in a quest to retrieve a missing tape.
