Best Free Downloads of the Week

Every Sunday we collect the best free music we can find and put it all in one place. If you fell behind or just feel like building up your iTunes, we've got you covered. Here are the week's best free downloads, in no particular order.

1.

2. Jarreau Vandal's Insane Version of Rihanna's "Work"

"This is a cover. None of the samples/vocals are by Rihanna," Jarreau Vandal explains. Whatever you're expecting, prepare to be surprised as you embark on a wild ride with this awesome Soulection affiliated producer.

3. Owen Bones ft. Kevin Abstract & Mick Jenkins - "Stuntman"

The centerpiece of Owen Bones' Surrender! EP is "Stuntman," a jagged collaboration with Kevin Abstract and Mick Jenkins. The Chicago producer is a master or suspense and surprise, and the two rappers are up to the challenge. It's fuzzy, grimy, and utterly cool. Check out the rest of Owen Bones' EP here.

4. Reptaliens - "Forced Entry"

The world of low-fi rock is alive and well. The Reptaliens turned some charming evidence of that fact this week with "Forced Entry," a dubby, staticky cut from the Portland duo.

They nail it with the song's description, too: "One song from every culture sent into space for aliens to hear but while traveling through airwaves the sounds became distorted and mangled."

5. RYAN Playground - "Folders"

RYAN Playground is a bit of a musical prodigy—she played drums, guitar, and violin as a child, and migrated towards experimental electronic music as her interest in music thickened.

Somewhere along the way, the Montreal-born artist linked up with another Ryan (Hemsworth) and his Secret Songs label, which is quickly becoming a one-stop shop for the future of electronic music. The entire elle EP is free for download below, but you can start with "Folders."

6. Kanye West - "I Love Kanye (MASSAPPEALS Edit)"

Although many of the flips and remixes of Kanye's a capella track "I Love Kanye" from The Life of Pablo have been taken down, this one has survived. It's more of a trap-influenced remix than many of the soulful flips we heard, and it definitely bumps.

7. Mikey Dollaz - "Commas"

Mikey Dollaz's Picture Me Rollin mixtape is a huge step forward for the Chicago rapper. It features production from some of the most ruthless names in music—Salva, Sonny Digital, and Honorable C.N.O.T.E.

But the tape's hardest moment comes on a track produced by Silk Road Assassin, "Commas." The spacey beat leaves plenty of room for Dollaz to go off, and he does just that.

8. KRNE - "Ascension"

Talented Oakland-based producer KRNE recently worked on an awesome track with Tokimonsta and Anderson .Paak, but now he's back with a bunch of originals in the form of the Debris EP.

"[It's] something I wanted to put together to thank those who have ever taken the time to listen and support my music. It’s reminiscent of my earlier releases and has a lot of new styles I’ve been inspired by."

You can download one song below, and grab the entire EP via BitTorrent here.

9. Ace Cosgrove - "Lord Have Mercy"

Maryland's finest, Ace Cosgrove, returned this week with another pointed, personal, highly relatable rap track. With a sing-song hook and wild production from Garren, this is another solid entry in the young rapper's catalog.

10. Wara From The NBHD - "Skin Tone/Death Match"

Wara From The NBHD closed out 2015 with the release of If Guns Could Speak PSA, now he’s ready to kick off the new year with some fresh material. On “Skin Tone,” Wara reveals a bit of vulnerability over smoother production than "Death Match."

“‘Skin Tone’ is probably one of my best songs simply because of what it represents,” Wara explains. “Self empowerment for people that look like me–overall it’s a record for the world that speaks for itself.”

11. Myd - "Again"

Bromance Records latest compilation, Homieland Vol. 2, is packed with excellent electronic music of all shapes and sizes. French producer Myd's contribution is the good times, party starting "Again," and the track is now availble for free download.
