Watch the Incredible Video For Baauer's "Day Ones," ft. Novelist and Leikeli47

Baauer’s performance of “Day Ones” on The Late Show with Steven Colbert was clever, taking the onus of performance off a producer who makes most of his music on his laptop, and putting it on the rapper Leikeli47 and the ranks of black-clad figures around her.

The Colbert performance was visually engaging, although it was a shame Novelist wasn’t there, but the full music video is absolutely brilliant. We would expect no less from director Hiro Murai, who has been behind some of the best and most powerful videos in recent memory, like Flying Lotus’ “Never Catch Me” and Childish Gambino’s “Sober.

In the “Day Ones” video, which features both Novelist and Leikeli47, a bloody battle occurs in a car park, between what seems to be the Red Coats and the soldiers of the American Revolution. It’s strange, beautiful, and thought-provoking. Watch above.

Baauer’s debut LP Aa is out March 18 via LuckyMe, and hopefully we’ll get to hear a full version of his track “Temple,” with M.I.A. and G-Dragon, soon.
