Matt Daniels has been making beautiful data visualizations at Poly-graph for a while now, but this might be some of his best work. Using Billboard’s “Hot Rap Songs” chart as a metric, Daniels (along with Billboard’s Emily White and Trevor Anderson) created a moving timeline of the top 10 spots since this new genre started charting.

The results are a day-to-day look at rap’s superstars and the trends they started, from Big Daddy Kane to… Iggy Azalea.

The graphic crossfades between songs as the top spot changes, and allows you to stop the relentless march of time to play a full song, if you choose to do so.

Check out the chart’s movement on Poly-graph.
