Ro Ransom’s latest record comes with a simple message: until you can back your words up, save your breath. “Talk Too Much” boasts melodically rapped bars, at times bellowed with a boost from autotune, at times uttered in a hushed tone. Ro’s lines are right at home atop a chilling strain of trap production (courtesy of K-Rucka, Mike Lantz, and Ransom himself).
The adage “move in silence” has left the mouths of rappers for many moons. Though something of a trope at this point, the words still ring true—especially in support of an overarching narrative. “This song is one piece of a much larger story,” the NYC artist noted in an email to P&P. “But it’s best to know to mauve in silence for your own good. My life changed forever after my infamy became exposè… Nobody likes a tattle tale.”
