Broderick Batts first caught my ear with a relatively straight-ahead (but incredibly addictive) collaboration with Erik Hassle. He proceeded to show a more tropical side on “Wavey.” But Batts really struck gold this week when he released “Kate Moss 1989,” a retro feel-good jam that offers ’80s influence with a modern Soca twist.
