grammys

The nominations for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards have been announced, and it looks highly likely that Kendrick Lamar will be walking home with at least a few awards. Announcing the nominees this morning, Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd are coming out strong this year with 11 and seven nominations respectively. Drake has received five nominations, Florence and the Machine received four, while Kanye West, D’Angelo, and Diplo are all up for three.

The 58th Grammys will take place on February 15, and the award show will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in L.A. on CBS. The nominees for Album of the Year are Taylor Swift’s 1989, Alabama Shakes’ Sound & Color, Chris Stapleton’s Traveller, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness. The Weeknd is also nominated for Record of the Year with his megahit “Can’t Feel My Face.”

Jamie XX, Caribou, Disclosure, Skrillex & Diplo, and Chemical Brothers are up for Best Dance/Electronic Album. J Cole, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, and Drake are up for the always controversial Best Rap Album. Fetty Wap, Miguel, Death Cab for Cutie, The Internet, and Jeremih also nominated for a number of Grammys. It’s also worth noting that Drake’s Meek Mill diss track “Back To Back” is up for a Best Rap Performance Grammy, while “Hotline Bling” hasn’t received a nomination.
