From Lykke Li to Robyn, Los Angeles has seen its fair share of Scandinavian musical immigration. But it’s not often you see the roles reversed.

Flores was born and raised in L.A., but currently resides in Norway. She’s also linked up with Swedish producer WoodzSTHLM, resulting in an appearance on the majestic Lighthouse EP.

But now its Flores’ turn in the spotlight. Her debut EP is incoming, and today brings the debut track. “Afterglow” was produced in tandem with Maths Time Joy—the two have previously teamed up for “After Hours,” and “Afterglow” proves this is a collaboration worth pursuing.

It starts slow, with a deep, thrumming synth opening the door for Flores’ falsetto harmonies. As more elements start to pour in, however, “Afterglow” evolves into a certifiable hit, complete with an addictive chorus and pleasantly surprising off-kilter rhythms in the final third. The collaborative triangle of Flores, Maths Time Joy, and WoodzSTHLM is making waves, and don’t look for them to slow down any time soon.
