Watch a Clip of Eagles of Death Metal's First Interview Following Paris Attacks

On November 13th, a series of tragic terrorist attacks took place in Paris. One of the locations hit was the Bataclan, a concert hall where Eagles of Death Metal played to a sold-out crowd. Hostages were taken and around 100 people died at the venue including the band’s merch manager, Nick Alexander. Now the group has spoken to Vice in their first interview since the Paris tragedy who shared a one minute clip with the full interview coming next week.

“Several people were hiding in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and kill everyone of them except for a kid that was hiding under my leather jacket,” says Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes still shaken by the events that took place. “People were playing dead, and they were so scared. A great reason why so many were killed is because so many people wouldn’t leave their friends, and so many people put themselves in front of people.” Watch the clip above.

The band cancelled all of their remaining tour dates and released a statement on what happened in Paris:

While the band is now home safe, we are horrified and still trying to come to terms with what happened in France. Our thoughts and hearts are first and foremost with our brother Nick Alexander, our record company comrades Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez, and all the friends and fans whose lives were taken in Paris, as well as their friends, families, and loved ones.

Although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion.

We would like to thank the French police, the FBI, the US and French State Departments, and especially all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil. All EODM shows are on hold until further notice. Vive la musique, vive la liberté, vive la France, and vive EODM.

A clip from the concert has surfaced on Instagram. While the video is not graphic it is still disturbing to see Eagles of Death Metal’s set interrupted by loud gunfire and seeing the band react. Watch below.
