Sango finally brought his “experimental musical study of Brazil’s baile funk” to a close today with the release of Da Rocinha 3, the third and final part of a series that began in 2012. The new record, like the two before it, combines contemporary hip-hop influences with classic Brazilian vibes without compromising either.

Sango says the album “is about keeping the funk carioca roots true and paying homage to the ones that helped start it. I want to respect and show Rocinha in a positive light with this record while staying true to my sound.”

The album is available on iTunes and Spotify as a truncated EP version that features five tracks, or from Sango’s website as the full 19-track version. The EP costs $5.99 on iTunes, but the value purchase is the Bandcamp release, which costs $1 for all 19 songs.
