While we wait for M.I.A.‘s next album, we’re getting new music sporadically—this summer she dropped a video, shot in West Africa and India, called “Matahdatah Scroll 01 Broader Than a Border” which featured a new track “Swords” and Matangi track “Warriors.”
After sharing the cover art above on Twitter yesterday, M.I.A. has shared a new track called “Borders,” posing questions to the listener (and society at large) over a bouncy beat that’s part generic trap, part wonky horns. “Bae, what’s up with that?,” M.I.A. sings. How very 2015.
