Mabel’s first track “Know Me Better” was one of the best debuts of the year, a perfectly sweet love song with a soaring chorus and a bumping beat from Josh Crocker. Mabel, who is the daughter of Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack producer Cameron McVey, grew up surrounded by music but is now cooly carving out her own space in the contemporary pop world.
Her new song “My Boy My Town” sees Mabel again floating over gentle production and coming with another great chorus. “Every city has a character and just like people you have to get to know them,” Mabel says. “‘My Boy My Town'” is about how a relationship and the complex relationship you have with a city can so easily become interlinked.”
At only 19-years-old, Mabel’s talent and potential is clear. “My Boy My Town” comes with a simple but effective black and white video that evokes the rush and the loneliness of modern life in a big city. Check it out below.
