Nobody likes a sellout who’s forgotten where they came from—right, “Jenny From The Block”?—especially not New Jersey-based musician Jules Born. His latest track, “Hollywood On Me,” is a personal reflection on the downfalls of the pursuit of celebrity, in the form of a slow-burning banger that boasts the electronic rock vibes of groups like Lymbyc Systym and Ratatat atop a frame of hip-hop-infused R&B.

“We live in a day and age where perception and status is so often determined for superficial reasons,” he said. “This song is somewhat of a story that I’m sure everyone can relate to in one way or another. My entire project was intended at first to be conceptual but then the songs ended up writing themselves because of real life experiences and current situations that I was able to draw from. Maybe the original idea manifested the songs or vice versa.”

“Hollywood On Me” is the second single from Jules Born’s upcoming EP Days End Confused, which is slated to drop in early 2016.
