James Franco's Band Daddy Just Signed a Record Deal

None

The always unpredictable James Franco has signed a record deal. His band Daddy—consisting of Franco and multi-instrumentalist Tim O’Keefe—is planning an album, but of course this isn’t your run-of-the-mill collection of songs; it’s a concept album influenced by The Smiths, called Let Me Get What I Want. The album will be based on Franco’s Smiths-inspired poems, and Smiths bassist Andy Rourke will appear on each song of the project. It will be released on Kobalt, the largest independent music publisher in the world.

“We are really excited to partner with Kobalt on our upcoming Daddy album and film,” the duo said in a statement to Billboard. “Kobalt has the right forward-thinking approach to work with a project as unique as ours, where we see our work not only existing within the music realm, but extending into the film, art space and beyond on an independent basis.”
