Even after years of stellar releases, Chicago rapper Tree feels like one of the Windy’s City’s less appreciated talents, a versatile rapper and producer with an immediately recognizable rasp. It’s always nice to see young producers shining light on worthwhile talents new fans might not know.
For Noah Sims’ new single “She Gets The Best Of Us,” the 19-year-old beat maker enlisted his fellow Chicagoan. Sims crafts a beat that sounds like the brainchild of a melancholy DJ Mustard, and Tree give depth to an ode to a woman with his pained, melodic rapping. An unexpected combination that makes for something greater than the sum of its parts.
