Leisure is one of the smoothest new acts out. The New Zealand band’s first two songs, “Got It Bad” and “Hot Love,” proved this much. They’ve got an effortless cool about them, mixing elements of R&B, funk, and electronic for something totally fresh and completely natural. Blending styles often leads to an overcomplicated mess, but Leisure’s best quality may be their expert understanding of negative space. They keep it simple, and every element is deliberate and necessary. Their latest track continues in this spirit, and it may be their sexiest yet.
