The British music industry has convened once again to decide on the best album produced by the U.K. in 2015. In past years, the Mercury Prize has gone to classic albums from Dizzee Rascal (Boy in da Corner), Arctic Monkeys ( Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not), The xx (The xx), and James Blake (Overgrown).
This year, Jamie xx could become the second artist to ever win the award twice if In Colour takes top honors—P.J. Harvey was the first. Other 2015 nominees include Florence and the Machine, Aphex Twin, and Benjamin Clementine.
The field is primarily made up of singular singer/songwriters—only two bands appear on the list, though the Scottish trio Young Fathers won in 2014. All of this year’s nominees, and some “Good Times,” are below.
Aphex Twin – Syro
Benjamin Clementine – At Least For Now
Gaz Coombes – Matador
C Duncan – Architect
Eska – Eska
Florence + The Machine – How Big,
How Blue, How Beautiful
Ghost Poet – Shedding Skin
Jamie xx – In Colour
Roisin Murphy – Hairless Toys
Slaves – Are You Satisfied
Soak – Before We Forgot How To Dream
Wolf Alice – My Love Is Cool
