There are those of us that still flinch at the mention of 2011, for that was the year James Murphy disbanded LCD Soundsystem. He did so in style, to be fair—the farewell show took place at Madison Square Garden and was turned into a solid documentary, Shut Up And Play The Hits. But it was still over, and that, in a word, sucked.

Four years and a musical subway campaign later, a flicker of hope was ignited today before it was quickly extinguished. Consequence of Sound reported that LCD Soundsystem might be getting back together. However, Kris Peterson, label manager of Murphy’s DFA imprint, went to Twitter to dispell the too good to be true news and brilliantly changing his twitter handle to dreamcrusher saying, “LCD Soundsystem are not reuniting next year, you fucking morons.”

It looks like Murphy is staying true to his word of walking away from the spotlight for good.
