Eric Prydz - "Opus (Four Tet Remix)"

Kurt Cobain once said he realized that Nirvana had “made it” when Weird Al Yankovic remixed “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and Weird Al is held in that high a regard because he is a master of his craft. To correlate that to electronic music, then, it should be said that a musician has “made it” when Four Tet remixes one of their songs. Eric Prydz recently had that pleasure, and yesterday, he shared Four Tet’s remix of his single “Opus.”

Four Tet doesn’t change the aesthetic of Prydz’s track all that much aside from rearranging its structure to make it more progressive and propulsive—very much like Daft Punk’s 2013 remix of Franz Ferdinand’s “Take Me Out.”

That’s probably because Four Tet was a big fan of the original song. On July 15, the day the original was released, Four Tet tweeted that he would love to provide his own take on the track:
