Jack White "Tried to Fight" The Black Keys' Patrick Carney in New York Last Night

The Black Keys' Patrick Carney sent out a series of tweets claiming that Jack White tried to fight him in a NYC bar.

Jack White and The Black Keys have a long standing history of disdain for one another, stemming from White’s claim that they stole his distinct garage rock sound. He apologized in May last year, wishing the band “all the success they can get.” And yet, despite that apology, the beef seems to be still going on strong if Patrick Carney of The Black Keys is to be believed. He started off a series tweets by saying that he’s never met Jack White despite their history, before saying that all changed last night in a bar in NYC.

“He came to a bar in Nyc I go to a lot with a few friends and tried to fight me,” Carney said, before calling White a “bully.” Speaking to Pitchfork after Carney took to Twitter, White said, “Nobody tried to fight you, Patrick.” He continued by saying “Nobody touched you, or ‘bullied’ you. You were asked a question you couldn’t answer so you walked away. So quit whining to the Internet and speak face to face like a human being.”

It should be said that for the most part the series of tweets were very defensive rather than offensive, until the very last tweet, that is: “Jack white is basically billy corgan’s dumb ass zero t-shirt in human form.” For what it’s worth, it probably would have been better to call out the Machina albums from the Pumpkins’ discography rather than Corgan’s silly shirt if he wanted to dish out some real insults.

Carney has yet to respond to White’s response. View the tweets from Carney above.

UPDATE: Carney has tweeted an update after talking with White, and things are “all good.”
