The tides are changing, and Justin Bieber is winning over new fans with his latest string of releases, including the infectious “What Do You Mean?” The song is a mainstream success—currently No. 2 on The Hot 100 (and rising)—but it’s also more mature, less obvious, and slicker than anything Bieber’s ever released.
CHVRCHES’ Martin Doherty is one of the new Bieber supporters. He’s a big fan of “What Do You Mean?” and admits that after realizing he’s liking Bieber’s music, he had to sit down and ask himself, “Oh my God, I’m actually a Justin Bieber fan. How did this happen?”
The Scottish trio decided to express their newfound Bieber fandom with a cover for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, and their take on “What Do You Mean?” is just as synthy as you’d hope for.
