It’s been seven years since Kid Cudi officially released his breakout single “Day ‘N’ Nite.” In a way it seems like it was just yesterday, and on the other hand it also feels like we’ve known Kid Cudi forever. However, before the world got a chance to love Cudi, his music was simply floating around emails between A-Trak and Plain Pat.
Taking part in the weekly #ThrowbackThursday posts that occur on Instagram, A-Trak shared an old photo of him and Kid Cudi. After sharing the photo, it seems a wave of nostalgia washed over A-Trak—leading him to dig through presumably hundreds of thousands of emails to find a true gem. He followed up his throwback photo with Cudi with the email he sent Plain Pat back in July of 2007 simply asking “What’s up with Kid Cudi?”—eager to know more about the soon-to-be fan favorite.
