UPDATE, 9/20: The album is called Wiped Out! and it will be out on October 30 via Columbia Records.
Last time we heard from The Neighbourhood, it was their rap-heavy mixtape in November of last year, featuring everyone from Raury to Danny Brown. Other than that, they’ve been pretty quiet, but a couple of months ago the California band announced a big North American tour, and that usually means an album is nearing completion. Still no word on a release date for the follow-up to their 2013 debut, but today we get the first taste with “R.I.P. 2 My Youth.” It’s a stomping tune that balances the group’s West Coast aesthetic with a dark edge and a cinematic, full-bodied feel.
