On Emily Jones’ Facebook, she describes her music as “Alternative/Acoustic/Electro/Chill.” Usually I hate it when artists describe their music as “chill,” because it’s so subjective. What is chill? Sometimes I listen to Young Thug and think that’s chill. Sometimes I listen to Toro Y Moi and think that’s chill.
But then you listen to Emily Jones’ EP, Translate, and you realize that chill is actually the only way to describe the music she makes. Throughout her three-song project she cultivates a stunning, atmospheric sound that makes you unsure if you’re sleeping or awake, and I mean that in the best way possible.
