Show Me The Body ft. Wiki - "Vernon"

"Vernon" is a thick dirge that slows down Show Me The Body's already muddy sound, allowing Ratking's Wiki to join in on the fun.

Wiki of Ratking isn’t exactly a stranger to left-field collaborations, but there’s something about his appearance on the latest track from New York City sludge-kings Show Me The Body that’s pretty special. Show Me The Body are one of New York City’s most interesting genre-bending bands, and they’ve been working within the same circle as Ratking for a while now, so “Vernon” is a track that was bound to happen eventually, but that doesn’t make it any less satisfying.

“Vernon” is a thick dirge that slows down Body’s already muddy aesthetic, and despite its heavy sound, Wiki’s voice sounds effortless and fits perfectly. The band takes punk and do what they want with it, subverting the genre while still paying tribute to it in the same way Ratking do with hip-hop. The time signatures are all over the place, but there’s a kind of menacing energy to the way most of their songs trudge along with a sense of purpose.

If King Krule with even more of a punk attitude sounds like something you’d enjoy, then watch the video for “Vernon” above, and check out the video for “Space Faithful” below.
