Petite Noir’s debut album La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful is due out on September 11 via Double Six. Ahead of its release, he has released a new track titled “MDR.” Like all of his previous work, “MDR” is a clear blend of influences that come together seamlessly.

The single is carried by an infectious Afrobeat rhythm that is sure to get hips moving and feet tapping without having to make a conscious effort, and features a chorus seemingly inspired by the famous musical Grease. Petite Noir’s striking voice is usually the focal point of his songs, but this time the beat demands the same amount of notice. Luckily, the two elements create a perfect blend and there’s no need to compete for attention.
