This weekend, Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def made a surprise appearance on stage with Kendrick Lamar during Montreal’s Osheaga Festival. It appears that he will be making yet another unexpected appearance on stage tonight, this time for his own stand-up comedy debut.

According to Kaytranada’s Facebook page, he will be spinning a very special set tonight for Mos Def as he makes his debut as a comedian. As surprising as this news may seem, once the initial shock wears off it no longer seems all that odd. Mos Def has always been a pretty funny guy, however the ordinary funny guy doesn’t always make a smooth transition into stand-up comedy.

Only, Mos Def isn’t ordinary, he’s good friends with Dave Chappelle, who more than likely gave him a few pointers. And I think we can trust that if Mos Def didn’t have some stand-up comedy potential, that Chappelle is a good enough friend to give him the honest truth—so tonight’s results should definitely be interesting.

If you’re in Montreal and available tonight, you can grab tickets here.
