There’s magic in subtlety. Madrid-based producer Pional took a break from creating records of his own to offer his notable take on Jamie xx’s “Stranger In a Room.” The In Colour cut is far from the first to receive a remix, with most involving “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times).” Ratking’s Wiki jumped on the track, as did Skepta.
The Spanish artist brings a steady hand to Jamie’s original. The alterations here are slight and measured, adding groaning bass lines, kicks, jazzy hi-hats, light cymbal crashes, and a string of other elements to the already impressive track. From Pional’s interspersed organs to his brief instrumental breakdowns, most all changes only benefit the beat.
