As he builds up to the release of his new single, London singer Kyan is dropping a cover each Monday. His previous two covers were of recent songs—from Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift—but the latest, which we’re premiering below, is an incredible new version of Frank Sinatra’s “Witchcraft.”
Kyan’s vocals sound at times like Thom Yorke, and the jagged, ominous production sheds a whole new light on the meaning of the lyrics. Kyan explained the thinking behind his cover series to us over email: “I wanted to see if I could break my favorite songs down to their bare bones and reassemble them as though I had written them myself.” He certainly succeeded with this cover.
Kyan’s new single drops at the end of August, with an EP to follow in October. Check out the cover and original below.
