What looks to be their final single before unveiling a project in two weeks, Duckwrth and The Kickdrums’ “Psycho” taps the maddening discomfort of inner conflict. In this instance confusion stems from the unpredictable feelings and behaviors of an unnamed other, who emotionally trace the slopes of a sine wave.
Alex Fitts, the oft-synched multi-talent behind The Kickdrums, offers a brooding backdrop that morphs into a mildly less gloomy outro. The use of layered vocals to support the 808s and synths scattered throughout the song ranks as one of its chief triumphs.
