Desperate circumstances demand extraordinary solutions, even if conceived whilst under the influence. Yesterday, Foo Fighter Dave Grohl graced RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. after a string of tour cancellations in Europe; the rocker evidently felt determined to celebrate the birthdays of both his country and his band, which just turned 20.
Seeing the group onstage always tops injury-induced limbo. What really makes the showing all the more interesting, though, is how they were able to overcome Grohl’s immobility, with his fractured leg still encased in a cast from last month’s fall. Resting beneath the Fighters’ leading man is a throne. Guitars jet out from the base and a ring of lights illuminates from behind.
Check out a video taken at the concert above. Watch the June performance during which Grohl broke his leg—only to continue singing—here. His legend status remains intact.
