The Best New Mixes Streaming Right Now

1.

If the following list was a weather report, it'd become abundantly clear to you that the summer season is in full swing.

Featuring keywords like waves, melt, warm-up, and, of course, summer, our latest list of the best mixes streaming right now might cause listeners to work up something of a sweat.

This time around, we have a bunch of mixes which have been made with the season's festivals in mind—New York's MoMA PS1 series, Dessau's Melt Festival, and London's Lovebox all represented—plus not one but two mixes made to mark 10-year anniversaries of key players in the development of bass music.

In no particular order, please enjoy the following mixes from people like Bok Bok, xxxy, N-Type, Cookin' Soul, Slimzee, Starkey, and some others you may not know, but will soon be familiar with.

2. Cookin' Soul: Summer Waves vol. 5

The suave Spaniards known as Cookin' Soul couldn't have provided a more suitable accompaniment to the sun had they served it with a wedge of lime and some salt.

Known for their hip-hop expertise and excellent club-friendly edits, the trio shared the fifth volume of their Summer Waves series on Soundcloud. "A curated selection of Slow Soulful Jams, Warm Funk, Hot Disco and Spanish and Brazilians sizzling vibes...It's the perfect blend to mix with sunshine, terrace, pool and a refreshing cocktail. Enjoy!"

And if you like what you hear, why not check out previous efforts on the group's official website, right?

3. Majid Jordan: [|]

In terms of size, this twenty minute mix from OVO's stalwart twosome Majid Jordan is sweet enough to make up for its shortness.

And with zero information as well as a total absence of a tracklist, we'll let the Drake-affiliated duo and their mysterious musical offering make it's own case, with muted R&B, disco, and house used to full effect throughout.

4. Helix: FACT X MoMA PS1 Warm Up Mix 2

Beau Thigpen, better known to the respective followers of the Night Slugs crew and ticketholders for MoMA PS1's Warm Up series in New York as Helix, provided musical food for posi thoughts before he played this past weekend.

Every Saturday until September 5, one can expect to find a slew of superb musicians, DJs, MCs, performers and more making loud yet agreeable noises at one of the oldest and largest nonprofit contemporary art institutions in the United States.

The noises you can expect to hear in this instance includes (but is not limited to) a selection of no-nonsense house, rousing R&B, and a healthy amount of hip-hop, disco, and electro.

5. Bok Bok: Fader Mix

The last time Night Slugs founder Bok Bok made this list was around March for his 'Healing' DJ mix. So here he is, reaffirming his skills once again, having found the time to whip up another fantastic effort; this time for the folks at Fader.

"The selection in this mix is attempting to capture some of the fun I've been having with friends in clubs recently. What Manara, Sweyn J and the other resident DJs at Body Party are doing, Club Rez, and Jam City's Earthly concept have all been an influence. In fact, I debut some forthcoming Jam City material in the mix from a forthcoming Earthly dub mixes 12" that's coming out in October. I got to play a few of the songs that popped off at those events—it was good to get it all down after some time playing these kinds of sets over the last year. It's a good one for summer."

6. Slimzee b2b Mumdance w/ Trim: Slimzo's Sessions #028 on NTS Radio

Not a stranger to this list, the latest episode of grime figurehead Slimzee's show on NTS radio featured a back-to-back with Mumdance and an ever-energetic excursion from microphone murderer Trim.

Not one for the fainthearted, you'll find yourself breaking into spontaneous gunfingers at more than a few moments throughout.

7. Dark Sky: Melt Festival Warm Up Mix

German festival Melt is looking to have another excellent year in 2015 if the line-up is anything to go by. It features familiar names like Hudson Mohawke, Kaytranada, Jamie xx, Kylie Minogue (LOL), and more specifically, British electronic trio Dark Sky

Prior to the festival's commencement this Friday, we know you can find some time to have a listen to the mix the Dark Sky guys have worked on, with contributions from Funkineven, Moire, Throwing Snow and more.

8. xxxy: Lovebox After Dark Mix

Whilst most other mixes featured on this list are pretty well suited for poolside listening, xxxy's xxxcelent mix for London's Lovebox festival is strictly one for your after hours, x-rated fun times.

Running at just over an hour, the mix opens with an ode to love(box), continuing with four-to-the-floor house vibes and stop-offs in funky town. May cause uncontrollable eye-shutting and/or bottom lip-biting.

9. Starkey, Dev79 & El Carnicero: Slit Jockey's 10 Years of Grime Mix

Also not a stranger to this list is Starkey and his Slit Jockey squad, celebrating ten years of flying the flag for grime music stateside.

With a tracklist that delves into the depths of the label's own output over the last decade, the founders (Starkey, Dev79, and El Carnicero) find themselves in the enviable position of heading up an imprint which can confidently claim to have cultivated and created it's own distinct sound—very, very loud, bass-heavy bangers. Brace yo'self.

10. N-Type, Coki & Chefal: DMZ 10 Special on Rinse FM

Wishing the DMZ boys a happy tenth birthday, this celebratory mix made by N-Type, Coki and Chefal works as a reminder and a retospective of a label which has lasted to become legend.

Of course there was a big ol' party which took place last weekend to celebrate, but if you weren't anywhere near Brixton on Friday, this mix does well to salve the anguish of having missed out.

11. OMAAR: Mix For The Astral Plane

Representing Mexico amonst our other nominees for the best mixes available at the moment is a spicy selection of tracks from producer/DJ Omaar. Having made his name making beats which are seemingly inspired by the UK grime sound, he delivers his own distinct take on things.

Described as being "..heavy on originals with a few nods to Logos, Mumdance and Strict Face...It’s brash, sci-fi-themed and more than a little jarring at times" by The Astral Plane, Omaar's contribution to the site's mix series is perfect for overcast days or staying inside during summertime thunderstorms.
